Out of four warehouses for vaccinations for children under five years of age, each of the regions serves (Idlib, Bab Al-Hawa, Azaz, Afrin). Watan operates a warehouse in Afrin, north of Aleppo, containing a quarter of the amount allocated by UNICEF to north-western Syria, and distributes it to 23 different Medical centres covering the entire region of Afrin, ensuring that they are stored and transported under good conditions until they reach the centres.
Watan has equipped the entire warehouse with a cold room that is powered by solar energy alternating with diesel. There is also an electronic system to monitor cooling operations and two teams of specialists are present to supervise the operations and maintenance work.
One of the teams is responsible for operating the cold room, monitoring the performance and maintaining the room’s equipment, while the other team is responsible for maintain and monitoring the readiness of the solar energy system in all the warehouse and centres to ensure the continuity of preserving the vaccines, and there is a warehouse that includes maintenance equipment, refrigeration equipment and solar energy.
The project was launched at the beginning of February this year.
