Idleb Flood Emergency

Heavy Rains Have Flooded Several IDP Camps Northern Idleb

On the night of Sunday, 17th of January, heavy rains began in several areas of Northern Idleb and continued into the next day. The unexpected downpour caused collateral damage to several hundred IDP shelters throughout the region. Thousands of people were displaced once again as the rainwater flooded their tents.

Due to the lack of adequate shelter, the affected families are moving towards other IDP camps where thousands of IDPs are already living within limited space. This has unfavourably affected the safety measures taken at these sites against the COVID-19 pandemic, compromising thousands of lives. WATAN UK teams are present on the ground to help these families and address their immediate needs.

The situation is deteriorating fast as the weather is expected to worsen with a high chance of snowfall and temperature dropping below freezing point. Rain could also affect other areas as dark clouds still cover the skies. Our teams have assessed the situation, doing everything they can to protect the most vulnerable ones. Their most immediate needs include shelter, food, and essential winter supplies.

Unprecedented weather conditions have displaced thousands of people, compelling them to start over. In these times, they need all kinds of support to survive the harsh winter. We need your support to make sure these families are not left out in the cold. WATAN UK delivers your generosity directly to the families in need, making sure that your charity makes the biggest impact. Please donate now to help our brothers and sisters who are struggling to survive!

THEY NEED YOUR HELP NOW MORE THAN EVER!
